Elisa specialises in criminal law, more specifically corporate criminal law. She provides assistance to both businesses and private individuals in various sectors, including transport, waste management and recycling. In addition Elisa frequently handles cases for businesses in the industry sector (such as companies to which the Major Accidents (Risks) Decree 1999 applies (BRZO companies).

Specialisation
  • Labour-related accidents which are the subject of an investigation under criminal or administrative law. Elisa has extensive experience in dealing with large-scale accidents which are also investigated by the Dutch Safety Board (Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid).
  • Environmental criminal cases, including EWSR criminal cases, discharges and cases of pollution.
  • Fraud cases, including those involving a suspicion of swindling, forgery of documents, corruption and money laundering.
  • Traffic law, cases in which Elisa among other things assists professional drivers of haulage companies who have been involved in an accident, or fatal accident.
  • Providing legal assistance to police officers. Ever since it was started (in 2015) Elisa has been taking part in the national pool of lawyers providing legal assistance to police officers in cases such as shooting and traffic incidents.
  • Assisting in reporting a punishable offence or filing a complaint against the decision by the Public Prosecution Service not to press charges, or further charges.
  • Medical criminal law, including doctors facing criminal prosecution in relation to euthanasia.
  • Medical criminal law, including doctors facing criminal prosecution in relation to euthanasia.
  • Other criminal cases.
Work experience

Elisa is has been a partner with Legaltree since 2020. Earlier she was employed as a corporate criminal lawyer with Sjöcrona van Stigt Advocaten in Rotterdam from 2009 until 2018 and as a lawyer partner with De Haas Advocaten in Rotterdam from the beginning of 2018 until the end of 2019.

Memberships & ancillary positions
  • Member of the Dutch department of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association
  • Presentations and training courses with undertakings and industry organizations (including VOTOB (transport of hazardous goods), VNCI (chemical industries) and TLN (transport and logistics), among other things in the field of assistance given by the authorities to prepare for legal proceedings following an incident/accident.
Education

  • Before she took up law, Elisa attended college in the United States for one year on a scholarship she had been granted in relation to joining the University tennis team.
