Attorney-at-law
Marjolein specialises in individual and collective employment-law matters relating to both the Netherlands and other countries. Her clients primarily include large and other employers, though she frequently represents directors (under the articles of association), employees and works councils as well.
Specialisation
In her advisory and litigation practice, Marjolein focuses on individual and collective dismissals, work conflicts and employee illness, employment conditions (and changes to these), transfers of undertakings and outsourcing, equal treatment and determination. Marjolein has gained specific expertise in large-scale, international reorganisations. In this connection, too, she negotiates with works councils and trade unions on behalf of employers. Marjolein often publishes articles and teaches courses on these subjects, including through the Instituut voor Arbeidsrecht (Institute of Employment Law).
By placing an emphasis on high-quality, direct contact with her clients, Marjolein seeks to build strong relationships with them. In her dealings with clients, she always stays true to her motto: ‘Quality is personal’. Her ability to put herself in the other party’s position enhances the quality of the advice she gives.
Work experience
Before joining Legaltree in September 2015, Marjolein practised employment law at Kennedy Van der Laan in Amsterdam (2004 – 2015) for 11 years, where she mainly acted as an advisor to large employers in the Netherlands and abroad. During this period, she was seconded several times to such companies as Liberty Global and NIKE.
