Christine van den Berg specialises in property law including construction law and tenancy law.

Specialisations

Christine specialised in construction law and general property law. She deals with drafting and assessing contracts for the purchase and sale of property, construction and project development. She provides legal assistance in civil and arbitration proceedings, as well as giving advice in construction disputes. Christine also works in tenancy law, and assists her clients by preparing and assessing tenancy agreements, in particular relating to commercial and residential property. She advices on or conducts proceedings regarding renovation projects, nuisance issues, defects, dissolutions and evictions. In addition, she conducts legal proceedings and deals with disputes concerning tenancy law. She also conducts due diligence investigations and risk inventories. Christine's motto is: 'I aim to act quickly and pragmatically and provide quality services, always putting the client's interests first'.

Work experience

Christine van den Berg worked at Van den Herik & Verhulst Advocaten from 2006 to 2012. Initially, she worked as a salaried partner and as head of the Property group (Tenancy law, Construction law and Procurement law). In 2009, she was appointed shareholder/director, while she retained her position as Head of the Real Estate group. Before this, Christine was a attorney-at-law with AKD Prinsen van Wijmen NV in Rotterdam for five years, where she worked in the Commercial Property group, specialising in tenancy law and construction law. After she graduated in Dutch Law, she started her career with Schaap en Partners in Rotterdam.

Christine has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Elan Wonen, a housing corporation in Haarlem, since 2019, where on 1 January 2020 she became chair of that same Supervisory Board. On 1 January 2022, she was appointed chair of the Supervisory Board of De Groeiling, an interdenominational school community for primary education in Gouda. Previously, she was chair of the Supervisory Board of the housing association Woningcorporatie Woonstede in Ede for many years. She regularly lectures and provides training and courses on tenancy law and construction law, as well as on aspects of supervisory directorship/regulation and the associated governance issues for clients and colleagues.
